Before each play, select from different formations and tactical options. When controlling the quarterback, decide whether to pass the ball or attempt a running play. If a pass is completed, control can switch to the receiver so you can continue advancing toward the end zone.

The objective of American football is to move the ball beyond the opponent's goal line while the defense tries to stop your progress. The ball can be carried, handed to a teammate or thrown forward to an eligible receiver depending on the play.

A touchdown scores six points and is followed by an opportunity to add one or two more. A successful field goal, kicked between the upright posts, awards three points. At the end of the allotted time, the team with the higher total score wins.
